UN to include more women on High-level Peacekeeping Panel

Caving to outside pressure Ban Ki-Moon mandated three more women to the High-level Independent Panel on UN Peace Operations that originally included only three women - and eleven men. While some critics mourn that gender parity is still lacking, others hope for a change "in the organization’s persistent practice of making important appointments behind the scenes with governments pushing their candidates."
