Politics of Masculinities

Conservative values and patriarchal structures are increasingly gaining importance as right-wing populism grows stronger. According to the latest Global Gender Gap Report, we will need another 200 years before we achieve equality between men and women worldwide.

In 2016, with the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation and the international center Free Happy People, a group of researchers investigated problems and beliefs of men living in four Russian republics: Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and Ingushetia.

Th Heinrich-Boell-Foundation in Nairobi has created six illustrations that highlight and discuss some of the ongoing challenges around the imporant tasks of targeting and reaching men as advocates for gender equality in Kenya.

Up until 2 July 2014, activists are asked to apply for participation in the one-week short course on "The Role of Men and Boys in Achieving Gender Equality". The course will take place on the campus of the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

In the course of the 2nd MenEngage Global Symposium 2014 held in New Delhi, 10-13 November 2014, the Men and Boys for Gender Justice Film Festival will take place.

Anti-feminist circles have rallied increasingly against an equity-based gender policy in recent years. These circles are a network-like amalgamation of various groups and individuals originating predominantly from conservative and liberal camps, but also in part from right-wing groups.
